Acupuncture can be described by using a very fine needle to induce a specifically located controlled trauma, with the intention to elicit a healing response by the body.  This healing response is stimulated to encourage the body to create an internal environment that will repair damaged tissue cells, reduce pain, and manage inhibitory signals from the Central Nervous System that impair the movement of the injured body part, encouraging better function and performance. A small electrical device may be attached to one or more of the needles to aid in treatment and improve the effectiveness of the procedure, utilizing evidence-based concepts of Medical Acupuncture.
